No Thru Traffic: A look at the cul-de-sac neighborhoods of Sand Lake in Anchorage, AK
This week we are featuring neighborhoods in the Sand Lake Community Council area. Many people prefer to buy homes on streets with no drive through traffic, especially if they have small children or pets. Many enjoy the quiet a low traffic neighborhood offers as well. Here are the cul-de-sac neighborhoods in Sand Lake that feature mainly single family homes. Where possible, we have outlined the types of building styles that are in each neighborhood. 11 single family homes on Reklas Circle and Lauden Circle, off of Ingram Street and Kincaid Road. Homes are large, two and three story layouts.
39 homes on 43 parcels. Home styles vary. Homes are located on 3 cul de sac roads: Lost Circle, Quiet Circle, Wooded Circle, and West 80th Avenue, which hasn't been built through to the next street yet. These cul de sacs are located of of Lucy Street and Kincaid Road.
9 newer homes located on Penny Rose Circle off of Jodhpur Street across from Kincaid Park.
8 properties located on West Kendale Circle off of Jodhpur Street across from Kincaid Park.
About 20 homes located on a Y shaped no thru subdivision: Cramer Place, Keri Court, Heather Circle, and Walker Circle. Subdivision is located at the far end of West Dimond Blvd where it curves around next to Kincaid Park.
A small private gated subdivision with gates for each driveway. Located on Bluffwood Circle at the far West end of Dimond Boulevard towards Kincaid Park.

10 homes in this HOA subdivision are tucked away on Heavenly Circle cul de sac. 5 homes are located off on Sky Circle cul de sac. 7 homes are located on the cul de sac end of Sky Mountain Circle. The other 33 homes in this subdivision are on drive through streets. Homes in this HOA subdivision are on large treed lots and are larger multi-level homes with garages. Subdivision entryway is located on the West end of Dimond Boulevard towards Kincaid Park on the North side of the road.
Located just South of Westpark off of Westpark Drive and West Dimond Blvd on Dry Creek Loop. Newly built homes in various styles. Brand new subdivision!

Entraces to this HOA subdivision are located on Katahdin Road on Kincaid Road and Sand Lake Road. Cul de sac homes are: 5 homes on Tyre Circle, 8 homes on Muirwood Drive, 5 homes on John Muir Circle, and 9 homes on Flagstone Circle. All other homes in this HOA subdivision are on drive through streets and loops. Homes are large teo story with 2 or 3 car garages. Newer construction and HOA make it a well kept subdivision.

45 homes located off of the far West end of Raspberry Road near Kincaid Park on Serenity Drive and Serenity Circle. Nice two story homes with two car garages. Some homes appear to be newer in style than others, but all are in nice shape due to there being an HOA in this neighborhood.
22 parcels located on the West end of Raspberry Road near Kincaid Park on Lowell Circle and Tay Court. Larger multi-level homes with at least 2 car garages on larger lots. Lots are spaced out nice with a lot of tall trees for a peaceful secluded feel.
25 properties located off of the West side of Raspberry Road on Tanaiana Drive, Kilak Place, and Kitlisa Drive. Much like Tanaina Valley, homes are on large wooded lots for good privacy. Homes are of various styles.
17 homes located on Runestad Circle, which is off of Jewel Lake Road and West Dimond Boulevard. Homes are varying in style with both 1 and 2 car garages.
A cute small cul de sac subdivision with 9 varying style homes. Located on Banjo Circle off of West 88th Avenue at the bend where it turns into Northwood Street.
25 of these homes are in off of West 88th Avenue on Juliana Street, Greenbelt Drive, and Sunny Circle, all cul de sacs. There are also 9 more homes in this subdivision, but they back up to West 88th Avenue. Homes vary in style and age.
7 (half) of the homes in this subdivision are located on Juliana Street, which is off of West 88th Avenue. Juliana Street is a cul de sac which ends at a Campbell Creek greenbelt. Homes are of varying age and style.

18 zero lot line homes on Jewel Lake Terrace Circle, which is off of West 88th Avenue next to Jewel Lake Park. Homes here may be zero lot line townhome style, but the excellent location makes them special.
19 varying style homes located on Noble Circle, which is on the North side of West Dimond Boulevard just West of Blackberry Street.
18 cute zero lot line 2 story homes with two car garages in this small cul de sac subdivision located on Chapparral Circle, which is on the West side of Dewberry Street in between West 88th Avenue and West Dimond Boulevard.
9 properties, with 2 or 3 car garages on Kalenka Circle off of Jade Street just across the street from Jade Park. Homes look to be newer construction. With some properties still undeveloped on Googel Streetview.
10 homes on Tanya Circle and 9 homes on the end of Emerald Drive. Homes on the right side of Emerald Drive are Jewel Lakefront properties. Homes on Tanya Circle are across the street from Jade Park. off of Jade Street. Homes are varying styles and have at least 2 car garages. Homes on the Emerald Drive side of Jewel Lake Terrace have more trees and larger lots.
This part of West 88th Avenue ends in a Y shaped Emerald Street with two cul de sacs at each end. Jewel Lake Heights is the right side of the Y. There are 7 properties in this subdivision and most have Jewel Lake frontage. Homes are various styles and on large well treed lots.
19 homes on Viscount Circle and 19 homes on Marquis Way make up this subdivision located off of West 80th Avenue and Jewel Lake Road. Split level and split entry homes with 1 and 2 car garages - most have 2 car garages.

9 homes of this HOA run subdivision are tucked away on the cul de sac end of Charlotte Circle. 16 of these homes are on the cul de sac end of Canal Street, with 9 of them being waterfront homes on Sand Lake canal. 7 homes are on the cul de sac of Victoria Circle. 20 homes in this subdivision are on drive through parts that lead to the cul de sacs. Homes in this subdivision are large and multistory styles with 2 and 3 car garages.
22 homes on Big Spruce Circle, which is located off of Blackberry Street and Strawberry Road. Newer two story homes with 2 and 3 car garages.
20 homes on Huckleberry Circle, which is located off of Strawberry Road near Jewel Lake Road. Homes with 2 car garagaes - most in the front are ranches and the ones at the back are multi-level homes.
8 homes on the left side of Jason Place off of West 78th Avenue. Other side of street has one large partially undeveloped parcel which gives it a greenbelt feel to the street. Homes are various style and age.
7 homes on McHenry Circle, which is at the East end of West 78th Avenue. Homes are various styles with 2 car garages.
Split entry style homes with carports, 1 car or 2 car garages. A few have detached garages. 14 homes in this subdivision are tuck away off of West 78th Avenue and Cranberry Street, 8 are not and back up to these streets. Cul desacs are Glenn Circle and Mae Rene Circle.

13 homes on Hunter Circle, 8 homes on Labrador Circle, 6 homes on Decoy Circle, and 11 homes on Retriever Circle make up the cul de sac homes in this HOA subdivision in Sand Lake. The other homes are on drive through streets. Homes are large and well kept with garages and built in varying styles. Sportsmens Point is located on the North side of Sand Lake.
7 homes on Cascade Circle, and 3 homes on Caravelle Court are on dead end cul de sacs. The rest of the homes in this subdivision are on drive through streets. Tall Spruce Estates is on the South side of Raspberry Road on Tall Spruce Drive. Split level and split entry homes with 2 car garages.
There are 4 homes on West 72nd Avenue, 2 homes on Cutty Sark Street, 6 homes on Tree Circle, and 14 homes on Town and Coutry Place that are on dead ends. The rest of the homes in this subdivision are on drive through streets. Town and Coutry Estates is located on the South side of Raspberry Road next to Jewel Lake Road. Homes are of varying stayle and age.
8 homes on Thiel Circle, 10 homes on Dawn Drive, 15 homes on West 72nd Court, and 11 homes on Marcy Court make up the cul de sac homes of this subdivions. The other 18 homes are on through ways. Whispering Pines is located on the North side of Caravelle Drive off of Jewel Lake Road. Homes here are mostly split level or split entry homes with 2 car garages.
21 homes on the cul de sacs ends of Carline Place and West 70th Avenue off of Raspeberry Road. Homes vary in style and age.
14 homes on the end of Timothy Street and on Sundew Circle. Homes vary in style and age. Timothy Street is off of Raspberry Road just West of Northwood Street.
Highgate is located on the South Side of Raspberry Road off of Arlene Street. 10 homes on West 71st Circle, 10 homes on Highgate Circle, and 10 homes on Beaumont Circle make up the total number of homes in this neighborhood that are located on dead ends. The rest are on drive through roads. Homes here vary in style on each street between ranch or split level/entry and one or two garages.
Windsor Village is located off on the South side of Raspberry Road by Cranberry Street. Homes vary in style and age. The only ones on dead ends are: 5 homes on Dunkirk Drive, 17 homes on Linden Circle, 4 homes on Linden Court, and 8 homes on Colonial Court. The rest of the homes in this neighborhood are on drive through streets.
Southwood Park is located on both the North and South sides of Raspberry Road at Cranberry Street. Although most of the homes in this subdivision are on busy streets, some of the homes are located on dead ends. They are: 4 homes on West 64th Avenue, 14 homes on West 65th Avenue, 35 homes on West 66th Avenue, and 5 homes on the end of Berryman Lane. Homes vary in style and age.
McGill is a single street dead end subdivision hidden away behind the Tastee Freez on Jewel Lake Road and Raspberry Road on McGill Way. Homes vary in size and age. Homes on the very end are on DeLong Lake.

Seeley Estates is located on the North side Raspberry Road on Lawlor Circle and Seeley Circle. Homes in this subdivision are well kept larger homes with at least 2 car garages.
DeLong Landing is a zero lot line duplex neighborhood. Although it may be well maintained with its HOA management, there is a lot of concrete and few trees giving it a congested feel compared to other nearby HOA subdivisions. DeLong Landing is located on the North side of Raspberry Road on DeLong Landing Circle.
There are about 30 homes on dead end roads within this Y shaped subdivision. Alderwood is located at the end of Air Guard Road which is on the North side of Raspberry Road. Homes vary in size, style, and age.
Highland Park is located on the Northeast corner of Jewel Lake Road and Raspberry Road. Some of the homes are on dead end driveways and streets. They are: 6 homes on Shady Court, 5 homes on Bridget Circle, and 10 homes on West 67th Avenue. Homes vary in size, style and age.
A quiet and small subdivision on Connor Trail off of the West end of West 64th Avenue. Backs up to greenbelt area of Connors Lake. Multi-levle homes with garages.
Homes in Wilk can be found on one of its dead end or cul de sac roads. This subdivision sits at the West side of Connors Lake. Lots of large treed parcels. Home styles and ages vary. Wilk subdivision is located off of the Southeast side Jewel Lake Road where it bends around the East side of Ted Stevens International Airport on Collins Way.
Connor is a small newer built subdivision located in between Wilk subdivision and Connor Lake on West 62nd Avenue, which dead ends. Homes are either zero lot line 1 car garage or single family with a 2 car garage.
4 homes at the end of Chevigny Street or 8 homes on Landau Circle, which is off of Blackberry Street. Chevigny Street is off of Jewel Lake Road. Homes are newer two stroy style with 2 car garages.
A cute one street subdivision with a cul de sac end on Berry Circle located on the South side of Strawberry Road. 18 newer homes in varying two story styles with 2 or 3 car garages.
Cul de sac/dead end parcels are: 3 homes on Rita Circle and 11 homes on Honeysuckle Drive. All other homes are on drive through streets. Homes vary in style, age and size. Rita Cicrle is off of Wisteria Street just South of Strawberry Road and Honeysuckle is off of Arlene Street.
Ascott Village is located on the Southwest corner of Strawberry Road and Northwood Street. Cul de sac and dead end homes are: 6 homes on Leopard Circle, 18 homes on Jaguar Circle, 4 homes on Porsche Street, 3 homes on Benz Circle, and 12 homes on Ascot Street. Homes vary in style and size. Many are ranch homes and many are split-level style and most have garages.
17 homes in this small newer subdivision are loacted on the dead end Country Meadows Circle. Homes ate split-level with 2 car garages. This subdivision is located off of West 80th Avenue on Northwood Street.
Silvertree has 13 homes on Country Brook Circle, 14 homes on Misty Glen Circle, and 15 homes on Mistybrook Circle that are not on drive through parts of the streets. Homes are a close together with little to no trees and zero lot line homes mixed with single family homes. Silvertree is located off of Northwood Street on Misty Medows Drive.
Country Woods is located on Country Woods Drive off of Northwood Street. Homes on dead ends or cul de sacs are as follows: 14 zero lot line homes on Harvest Circle, 3 single family and 4 zero lot line homes on Country Woods Court, 22 zero lot line homes on Lamplighter Court, 12 single family homes on Shadetree Circle, and 12 single family homes and one duplex on Orchard Place. Homes vary in style and age.
There are 16 homes on Blugrass Circle that are not on a throughway street. They are multi-level single family homes with one or 2 car garages. Floorplans vary between split entry and split level. Emerald Hills is located on the East side of Northwood Street at the corner where it turns into West 88th Avenue.
Campbell Lake Heights in located on the North shore of Campbell Lake. It has many streets and access points. The homes on dead ends West to East are: 4 homes on North Point Circle (which are also Campbell Lake waterfront homes), 5 homes on Mere Circle, 4 homes on Pelican Court, and 15 homes on Curlew Circle. Homes vary in size and style. Campbell Lake Heights is broken into two pieces so, building styles may vary greatly.
